'Hiccup Girl' Jennifer Mee was found guilty of first-degree murder on Friday after she lured a man to his death.
CNN reports Pinellas County Judge Nancy Moate Ley sentenced the 22-year-old to life in prison without parole. Mee sobbed as she was cuffed and lead out of the courtroom to her jai cell.
"Mee was 19 when she was arrested in October 2010. Police said she met Shannon Griffin on a social networking site, then lured him to a vacant home days later," CNN reports. "Authorities do not believe Mee or Griffin, a Wal-Mart employee who recently moved to Florida, knew each other prior to their online encounter."
Two men, Laron Raiford and Lamont Newton, were waiting to rob Griffin and shot him multiple times. Griffin died from the gunshot wounds.
"It's a victory, but there are no winners," Doug Bolden, cousin of the victim, told Tampa Bay Times.
CNN reports Raiford was also found guulty and sentenced to life in prison. Newton has yet to stand trial for the murder of Griffin.
Though Mee was not the one who fired the fatal shots, she did admit to setting up the meeting with Griffin, Tampa Bay Times reports.
"Because I set everything up," Mee told her mother in a recorded jailhouse phone call. "It all went wrong, Mom. It just went downhill."
Mee has 30 days to appeal the court's ruling.
The convicted killer was originally dubbed "Hiccup Girl" in 2007 when she made national headlines about her uncontrollable hiccupping problem. She tried every home remedy imaginable and went to specialist but nothing worked. Eventually the hiccups stopped on their own.
"Mee's attorney, John Trevena, has said she was diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome, a neurological disorder that can cause involuntary movements and speech problems," CBS Miami reports. "Trevena said that hiccups are a symptom of Tourette's and that Mee's still suffers from periodic bouts."
