Fake BBM on Android: Fake BBM for Android Spotted on Google Play

The BlackBerry Messenger, or simply known as BBM, is already in the Apple App Store and coming soon to Google Play Store for Android devices. However, users might be surprised to see that the app is already on the Google Play Store. Well, don’t be deceived because those are fake BBMs.

The Droid Guy listed some of the names of the spotted “fake BBM” on Android. They are actually more than a dozen but here are some to name a few: BBM for Android by Mobile Freakz, BBM Messenger for Android by Blackberry BBM Messenger, Messenger for Android by Messenger for Android, BBM Messenger Free by Blackberry BBM Messenger, BBM Messenger Pro by Blackberry BBM Messenger, and BES 10 Client.

Aside from the fake BBM apps, there are also guide and review apps related to BBM. These include BBM for Android Guide by Zazan App, BBM for Android Review by Galuh App, and BBM for Android Book Secrets by Walet Groups.

Android users should be careful because none of these are legitimate BBM apps. BlackBerry has not released the app yet on Google Play Store. Developers of these fake apps have used Android and BBM logos to deceive people for downloading. Some even claim that they are the official messenger app of the Ontario-based company.

BlackBerry previously announced that it will be uploading BBM in Google Play Store by 7 p.m EDT but had to delay it due to some issues.

Seeing fake apps disguising to be the official and original app is common in Google Play. Just try searching for Temple Run or Fruit Ninja and you will see a lot.

While BlackBerry is still working on resolving the issues which caused the delay, it is highly recommended for Android users to flag these fake BBM apps “inappropriate” for it to be immediately deleted.
