Batband headphone, created by London-based company Studio Banana Things, is an earless headphone that is placed around the rear of the skull, using bone conduction to play music directly into the head of the user.
The biggest benefit of the headphone is that it no longer blocks the ears, allowing users listen to private music while still being fully aware of the surroundings, Daily Mail reports.
Developers claim that the device is comfortable to wear around the head because it has a padded lining around the spring steel material. It also has touch controls on the sides.
The device can be paired with phones via Bluetooth, making it possible to use the device in answering and ending calls. Swiping the side of the band allows wearers to answer and end calls, turn the volume up or down, and skip songs, Daily Times reports.
Studio Banana Things is hailed as the first company to produce bone conductivity headphones. It posted the product on Kickstarter, with the target to reach $150,000, and has so far raised $204,881 with 41 days remaining.
You can pre-order the device for $149 from Kickstarter before it is released on general sale for the price of $250, Slash Gear reports.
