Pakistan Violates Ceasefire, Attacks Indian Troops In Poonch District

The Pakistani army has initiated an unprovoked attack at several Indian positions on the line of control (LoC) in the Poonch district of the Jammu region on Wednesday, firing a number of mortar shells and automatic weapons at the Indian army stationed in the area, according to India Samvad.

A senior police officer stationed in the area described the attack by the Pakistani army.

"In the early hours of morning today, the Pakistan army used 82 mm mortars and automatic weapons to target Indian positions on the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district," he said.

"This is the third such violation of ceasefire by Pakistan in 48 hours in the same sector."

The Indian troops stationed nearby retaliated, with most recent reports still stating that the firing from both sides is still going on, reports First Post India.

Lt. Col. Manish Mehta added further details to the ongoing attacks.

"Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in Balakot sector using automatics yesterday (Tuesday) from 6.30 p.m to 9 p.m. Today in Krishna Ghati sector, they have been using 82 mm mortars and automatics from 7.10 a.m.," he stated.

However, there are current no reports of casualties from either side.

"No casualty has been so far reported from our side. Pakistan army also fired 120 mm mortar and RPGs at Indian positions," Mehta further stated.

Pakistani and Indian forces are currently at a ceasefire. However, Pakistan has already violated the ceasefire 17 times in the month of September alone.
