Android Kitkat Release Date: New Android 4.4 to be launched with Google Nexus 5 in October

Google has announced early September that it already working on a new Android software dubbed as “Kitkat.” Nestle, the chocolate bar manufacturer, accidentally blurted out that the software update will be launched in October.

As part of the launching event, Nestle will be giving away a Nexus 7 to a few lucky buyers of the Android-branded Kitkat. The confirmation happened on a German Facebook page of Kitkat when somebody asked when the official release date will be and the page admin unintentionally disclosed the release date of the new Android 4.4 in a response.

The release of the new Android 4.4 will correspond with the release of the Google Nexus 5. Previous reports have pointed out that smartphone will be released in October though no specific date was given.

Other rumors have concluded that the release will take place on Oct. 5 which was previously thought to be equipped with Android 4.0 Key Lime Pie. However, Google decided to change the software name to Kitkat reasoning that only a few knows the taste of the Key Lime Pie and Kitkat being a more popular brand.

IBTimes reports that Kitkat can be uploaded on older devices, resolve issues about screen fragmentation and improve Miracast Wi-Fi standards. Android users may also see visual improvements, more animations, colors, and new icons. However, it is better not to expect a lot since the name Android 4.4 indicates that it may be a minor update and not like iOS 7 major interface revamp.

Google has not release any comment yet about the software release date. But an Australian tech site previously leaked that the new software and Google Nexus 5 will both be unveiled in Oct. 14. Nestle has not released any statement as well if the information from its Facebook page was accurate.
