St. Louis running back Todd Gurley could make his debut this weekend, as head coach Jeff Fisher has not ruled him out for week two against the Washington Redskins, according to ESPN reporter Nick Wagoner.
"There's always that possibility," said Fisher, via ESPN. "I ruled him out in the preseason and ruled him out last week. I'm not ruling him out right now. We'll see how he does. But this is a medical decision, a trainer decision, a collective decision but we'll see how he does this week."
Gurley is still recovering from and ACL tear he suffered last season while playing at Georgia. Gurley was a nightmare for defenses in college, as he ran for 3,285 yards and 36 touchdowns in two-and-a-half seasons. The 10th pick in the draft will be a big addition to the Rams rushing attack, as they only rushed for a team total of 76 yards in their win over their NFC West rival, the Seattle Seahawks.
The other big running back for the Rams is Tre Mason, but he missed week one due to a hamstring injury. When the Rams get back both Gurley and Mason, they will have a powerful duo that could turn St. Louis into a strong running team.
"I feel good," said Gurley, via ESPN. "Just being back used to things and getting in the flow of the offense."
The Rams will play at FedEx Field against the Redskins, who had an impressive run defense against the Miami Dolphins in week one. The Redskins held the Dolphins to 74 yards rushing, and will likely try to have a similar run defense set up against the Rams. Gurley could be a huge addition to the Rams rushing attack, but he could also open up things downfield for quarterback Nick Foles if Gurley forces the defense to play up on the line.
