Kenyan security forces killed two more gunmen on Monday from the group of terrorists that launched a deadly attack at Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi, CNN reported.
It is unknown if there are any hostages left. If there are, the amount is expected to be "very, very minimal" according to Interior Minister Joseph Ole Lenku. He emphasized that most victims and hostages have been released from the building.
The terrorist attack in one of the capital's most extravagant malls began on Saturday afternoon and left nearly 60 dead and at least 175 injured. The attack continued into the week as the militants from Al Shebaab -- an Islamist group affiliated with Al Qaeda -- took people hostage.
All of the terrorists are men. Although a senior Intelligence official from Kenya told CNN that one of the shooters on surveillance footage was a white woman -- possibly Samantha Lewthwaite, widow of London suicide bomber Germaine Lindsey -- Lenku said some of the terrorists dressed as women.
On early Monday, Kenya Red Cross updated their Twitter account and released the official death toll as 62.
Lenku said both the entrance doors and exits were sealed off so the terrorists could not escape.
"We are in charge of the situation, our people are safe," he added.
According to security officials, the terrorists captured around 10 hostages on one level of the mall before attacking the rest of the people inside. Later that night, an unspecified amount were let go. Two gunmen were also killed on Saturday.
Kenyan forces are joined by Israeli special forces, Kenyan government officials said.
Although some people believe there are American men in the group of Al Shebaab terrorists, the claims have not been confirmed. Before the terrorist group's Twitter account was suspended, the social media page listed nine names of the militants and said three were from the United States.
An official from the U.S. State Department said as their investigation continued, it seemed likely they would discover Americans as a part of the attack.
