Hostages Preview: The FBI Agent Turned Killer; The Show's Many Questions Are a Good Thing

Starring:

Tate Donovan as Brian Sanders

Rhys Coiro as Kramer Delany

Billy Brown as Archer Petit

Sandrine Holt as Maria Gonzales

James Naughton as President Paul Kincaid

Quin Shepard as Morgan Sanders

Mateus Ward as Jake Sanders

Plot:

Duncan Carlisle seems like one of the good guys. Carlisle is an FBI agent who helps take down a bank robber (although in fairly risky fashion). Dr. Ellen Sanders has just been tasked with the very intimidating, but highly honorable, task of operating on the president of the United States of America. Carlisle holds Ellen and her family hostage in their house and tells her she has to kill the president, or people start dying.

Preliminary Pro:

Any show that begins with secrets surrounding more than one of the main characters’ pasts usually keeps you interested and attentive. In the trailer we see Carlisle’s daughter is sick. Does the president have something to do with Carlisle’s daughter? Why does the Commander-in-Chief have to die? What is Dr. Sanders going to do? The large amount of questions provides for many avenues that the writers can take, which is never a bad thing.

Preliminary Con:

It is very hard to find a bad thing here because the potential is so great. This means if the show doesn't live up to the hype, the letdown will be even greater. A show like this must answer questions and reveal secrets in each episode and the viewer will stay intrigued.

Trailer:

“Hostages” premiers tonight, 10/9c on CBS.
