"Marvel's Jessica Jones" will start with its title character in transition. Her short-lived stint as a superhero has left her battling a number of personal demons and appears physically rundown in the first photos from Netflix.
Krysten Ritter puts on a tough exterior as Jones, wearing ripped jeans and a leather jacket. The latest Marvel street hero is working to rebuild her life and career as a "hot-tempered, sardonic, bada-- private detective in Hell's Kitchen, according to an early synopsis.
Jessica will battle the "demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need... especially if they're willing to cut her a check."
Netflix also released a first look at Jones' love interest Luke Cage (Mike Colter), working as a barkeep, and David Tennant's villainous Kilgrave a.k.a. The Purple Man.
"Jessica Jones" is the second of four planned series between Marvel and Netflix. Colter will spinoff for the third show, "Luke Cage," followed by "Iron Fist" and a "Defenders" series that brings all four street heroes together.
