The “Devious Season” finale provided us with the answers we needed and with a cliff hanger setting up the storyline for next season.
At the end of last week’s episode Taylor Stappord took a bullet to the stomach meant for Marisol. This week, we found out her baby did not survive the shooting.
So when Marisol asks Michael Stappord to divulge all he knows about Felipe Delatour and Flora’s murder, he eventually obliges. When Marisol has all she needs, she texts Rosie, Zoila, and Carmen and they meet at the hospital. After she admits her true identity and intentions to Zoila and Carmen, the four maids hatch a plan.
The maids aren’t the only ones looking to take down Felipe. After seeing on the news that his hit man shot the wrong person Felipe heads to the Powell’s to ask them to borrow their private jet to wisk Genevieve away on a romantic getaway. Adrian says no and Felipe turns to leave. However, before he exits he makes sure to mention he wasn’t at the Powells’ house the night of Flora’s murder. Why would he say that? After he’s gone Adrian and Evelyn put the pieces together and realize Felipe killed Flora. Adrian, who loved Flora, decided to make Felipe pay.
Here’s how and why Flora was killed:
--Felipe was Flora’s woman in Adrian’s “disgusting little hobby.”
--Right before they were about to do the deed, she realized he was Remy’s father—the same Remy she had been dating. However, Felipe doesn’t take the word “no” too well.
--Flora gets pregnant and the blackmail ensues. Pretty soon, Felipe gets fed up with the blackmail and decides to take matters into his own hands. He attends the party Flora was at—to which he was not invited because at the time he was not on good terms with Genevieve—finds Flora and stabs her. She doesn’t die immediately and is able to make her way outside where she falls into the pool.
--Eddie comes into the room where the murder just happened. Felipe knocks him over the head, places the knife in his hand, and leaves the party.
Both teams (The four maids and Team Adrian/Evelyn) decide to hatch their plans at the engagement party the Powells are hosting for Felipe and Genevieve.
The maids find a way to get Felipe into the room where Adrian is able to record his “disgusting little hobby.” Rosie is recording while Marisol attempts to get Felipe to confess his crime. However, she fails. In fact, he picks up a knife and is about to stab her when security comes in to escort Marisol off the property. (Evelyn had seen her in the party before and asked her to leave since the last time she was there she caused a whole lot of trouble.)
Earlier in the evening Adrian had told Felipe he had a gift for the groom-to-be. After Felipe escaped the Marisol-situation he made it to the Powells’ living room. There he meets Adrian who insists Felipe accepts the gift now. The gift? A drink laced with a muscle relaxer. That way Felipe can’t fight back when Adrian throws him out the window into the pool. When the cops arrive Adrian and Evelyn say it was a suicide and the maids—wanting to help their friend—chime in and say they heard the whole thing as well. All’s well that ends well—sort of.
During the episode Spence tells Rosie that he wants to adopt Miguel so Rosie’s son can become a United States citizen. During their conversation, Peri calls Rosie’s phone and Miguel picks up. As he goes to give his mom the phone, Spence and Rosie are confessing their love for one another which Peri overhears.
At the end of the episode, immigration authorities are hauling Rosie off as she is having lunch with her friends and a now free Eddie. Peri is watching from a distance.
In other “Devious Maids” news Carmen is really leaning towards being Alejandro’s beard, much to the disappointment of Sam and Odessa (who has feelings for Alejandro). Alejandro's lawyers have drawn up a contract to make her a musical sensation in return for he cooperation.
Valentina is furious with her mother for orchestrating Remy’s break-up with her.
“Devious Maids” was renewed for a second season and is scheduled to return in the summer of 2014.
