The Minnesota Timberwolves are an extremely young team that is hoping that some of their young players can turn into NBA superstars. At the forefront of that hope is Andrew Wiggins, who many expect to be the next huge superstar in the NBA and has even drawn comparisons to LeBron James. The Timberwolves have reportedly signed Wiggins' brother, Nick, to a deal for training camp, according to Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders.
Nick Wiggins played for two seasons at Wichita State where he didn't get much playing time and didn't have all that big of an impact, but he is a 6-foot-6 guard, which is good size and obviously basketball talent runs in the family. This signing could have just been a gesture by the Timberwolves to keep their star player happy, but Wiggins will now have a chance to compete for a spot on the roster.
Wiggins will be the 19th player signed to a contract by the Timberwolves and doesn't have a great chance to make the team as the Timberwolves are pretty deep. Kevin Martin is the starting shooting guard with Lorenzo Brown behind him, and they also likely have to find playing time for all four of their point guards.
Wiggins played for the T'Wolves summer league team but only played a total of 42 minutes over four games and scored just 12 points while attempting 11 field goals. Wiggins unfortunately wasn't blessed with the type of talent his brother has and likely won't have much of an NBA career, but he will likely have a chance to play overseas professionally and maybe, if he makes a good impression in camp, he can find a spot on a D-League team in the hopes that he can develop his game to NBA level.
