Drug Trafficking: 4 Dutch Suspects Arrested After British Police Find $60 Million Worth Of Drugs In 'Fake Ambulance'

British police have arrested four suspected members of a Dutch drug smuggling gang after finding 270 kilos of drugs hidden inside a fake ambulance.

Drugs, including cocaine, heroin and ecstasy, with a street value of $60 million were found hidden behind interior panels, in cupboards and under the floor of a fake ambulance, reported Express & Star.

The four suspects, identified as Olof Schoon, 37, Leonardus Bijlsma, 55, Dennis Vogelaar, 28, and Richard Engelsbel, 50, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday, according to The Guardian. They were remanded into custody and set to appear on October 2.

They were arrested by National Crime Agency (NCA) personnel in a car park in West Midlands on Tuesday.

"This was an audacious plot. We believe the two men in the ambulance posed as paramedics to avoid unwanted attention when entering the country through Harwich," Brent Lyon from the NCA's Armed Operations Unit said in a statement.

"Our officers were ready and waiting though and stopped the drugs from being distributed to crime groups across the country," Lyon added.

The men, suspected members of a Dutch drug cartel, are accused of smuggling drugs from Netherlands to England between April 2014 and June 2015 by using a fake ambulance, according to Birmingham Mail.
