Iron Dome System Deployed In Israel

Following what is being called a Palestinian unrest, Israel has deployed an Iron Dome anti-missile defense system in Ashdod, a town neighboring the Lebanese border.

The reasons for this are to protect against threats such as Hezbollah, a Lebanese military and political party, as well as Hamas, the governing force of the Gaza.

Tensions have risen following the celebrations of Rosh Hashanah between the Israeli's and Palestinians, according to JTA. This has led to the Hamas declaring what they call a day of rage.

Commander of Israel's Active Defense Air Wing, said the military drills "were not a direct reaction to recent events", according to Salem-News however threats still are a concern.

Following the re-arrest of a Palestinian lawyer, Mohamed Alaan, who was recovering in an Israeli hospital from a hunger strike, tensions have risen. Alaan is apart of the West Bank Palestinian movement and is considered a freedom fighter, according to HAARETZ.

This is very different than what Israel believes.

His re-arrest was reportedly based on intelligence information, the nature of which has not been revealed, according to I24 News. The Israeli Defense Front however states that this deployment is simply for defense reasons and precaution. These groups live in a close proximity and with the last threat proposed of Islamic jihaad at Israeli's defense is a top priority.
