Manchester City meets Wigan Athletic on Tuesday in the 2013 Capital One Cup. The match starts at 2:45 p.m. EDT (7:45 p.m. BST). Watch the free live stream HERE.
Wigan defeated Manchester City last year in the F.A. Cup final, a loss likely still hanging in the minds of the City team, IB Times reports. Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, in his first year with the team, believes his squad's win over Manchester United on Sunday is the perfect catalyst to spur the team onto greater accomplishments this season - starting with a revenge match against Wigan.
"It was a very important result, normally you don't expect to win 4-1 against Manchester United but the most important thing was the way we played - I am very happy," Pellegrini said after the win, via the team website. "Normally derbies are more equal but today we had a very good day and that allowed us to have superiority against Manchester United this afternoon.
"Winning the way we won today will give us a lot of confidence. ... Not every game is the same, we are just starting in another way to play and I hope we will improve every day. Always winning against Manchester United and the way we won could have an important impact."
Man City is 3-1-1 with 10 points, sitting behind Tottenham and Arsenal. Aside from Wigan's surprise win in the F.A. Cup, Man City has won their previous seven meetings, according to Goal.com.
