Arsenal fans are really going out of their way to make sure Mike Dean never refs another Gunners match. Over 50,000 fans have signed a petition to ban Dean from officiating Arsenal matches forever, according to Bleacher Report.
The driving force behind the petition, which can be found at Change.org is due to what fans believe were multiple missed calls in the recent match between Arsenal and Chelsea. There is a description for the petition that really takes the cake and showcases just how upset the Gunners fanbase is.
The official title of the petition is "Prevent Mike Dean from refereeing another Arsenal Game."
"After many poor decisions that go against Arsenal when Mike Dean is refereeing the game, it is time that we get an inquiry to his ability to referee Arsenal games. Major incidents have occurred in recent and past games that show he is inept at refereeing at this level now," according to the petition. "The recent events at Chelsea V Arsenal (19/09/15) highlight this where two Arsenal players were dismissed while Diego Costa the opposition player made 4 straight red card incidents and was show one yellow card only. Also the incident where Mike Dean celebrated for the opposition, when they scored a goal, this was in the Arsenal V Tottenham Hotspur fixture (26/02/2012)."
Two Gunners players were red-carded during the match, for retaliating to horrific fouls committed by Chelsea's Diego Costa. While costa received only a yellow card, Arsenal was forced to play with nine men, leading the club to lose 2-0 to their rivals. Gabriel and Santi Carzola will miss the next match for Arsenal unless the Premier League decides to change their punishment.
The official word on Costa's punishment has yet to be released.
