German Woman Charged: Auschwitz Death Camp Worker, 91, Charged With 260,000 Counts Of Accessory To Murder

German prosecutors have announced that a 91-year-old woman currently faces 260,000 counts of accessory to murder due to her involvement with the Nazi SS during the Second World War. Upon investigation, it has been found that she was working in the Auschwitz death camp complex during the Holocaust, according to The Independent.

Schleswig-Holstein prosecutors' spokesman, Heinz Doellel, stated on Monday that the woman, whose name remains anonymous due to German privacy laws, allegedly worked as a personal radio operator of Rudolph Hoess, a prominent Nazi who was ultimately hanged for his crimes during World War II.

Duty rosters have shown that the 91-year-old was in service from April to July 1944. According to the indictment, the records clearly states that "she was a helper in the systematic murder of the Jews transported there," reports SportAct.

The prosecutors have stated that they believe the evidence is strong enough to indict the former Nazi. Earlier this year, a similar case, which involved a 94-year-old former sergeant at Auschwitz, ended in a conviction, according to ABC News.

However, it is still unclear if the woman would be judged to be medically fit to stand trial, as numerous Auschwitz personnel have managed to evade conviction by using dementia as a means to avoid the court. If ever she is declared medically able, she would be tried at a court in Kiel.
