Chicago Bears RUMORS: Jay Cutler Out Two Weeks, Maybe More?

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will miss a minimum of two weeks after suffering a hamstring injury on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Without Cutler, look for the Bears to start Jimmy Clausen against the Seattle Seahawks. Clausen was a second round pick by the Carolina Panthers back in 2010. In his only real season on the field he didn't perform too well, throwing nine interceptions to only three touchdowns.

Clausen didn't really get too much of chance down in Carolina, as the Panthers drafted Cam Newton with the first pick the following year.

Last week against the Cardinals, Clausen stepped in and threw for a 121 yards and an interception. Cutler has been under much scrutiny the past couple of seasons in Chicago, but Bears fans will get to see how they do with another quarterback making the plays.

While the Bears didn't perform last season, Cutler still had a strong showing on the field, throwing for 3,812 yards with 28 touchdowns to 18 interceptions. The major criticism of Cutler is forcing the ball, and he does do that quite often as he seems to have a gunslinger mentality.

"Any time it's not severe, I think it's good news," said head coach John Fox, via chicagobears.com. "We'll just evaluate it going forward. We have game-planning tonight for Seattle and tomorrow and players are back in on Wednesday."

Right now it looks like Cutler is unlikely to go for at least two weeks, but it is possible for him to make a quick recovery. The Bears defense is truly the problem right now with this team, as they have given up the most points in football through two weeks, with 79 points scored against them.

With Seattle coming in win-less, they will be desperate for a win, and it's likely they go with a ton of blitzes against Clausen. With Cutler out, this will be a good chance for Clausen to prove he can start in the NFL, but there may be no more difficult test for him to face then Seattle's defense.

When Fox was asked if Cutler would play this Sunday or practice this week he responded, "Is it going to be heads or tails on Sunday? I don't know," via chicagobears.com.

Fox is leaving room for Cutler to play this weekend, but he also could be trying to get the Seahawks to prepare for either quarterback. It seems unlikely that Cutler will play, but either way if the Bears want a chance this weekend it will likely have to be their defense that steps up.
