After hash tag # it's time for personalized recommendations. Twitter introduced Tuesday, a more selective content on iOS and Android.
The personalized recommendation will appear in the form of push notifications on the smartphone screens, which will suggest accounts that can be followed on Twitter and also keep notifying about what other users are tweeting on similar topics.
The recently introduced feature on Twitter has evolved out of an experimental account named @magicrecs by the micro blogging site that keeps a track of the accounts followed by a particular user; tweets re-tweeted by them and recommends to the user new accounts or tweets that need to be followed. MagicRecs has earned a large number of fan followers within a short span of time as it serves as a global alert system for the Twitter fanatics but it sends only one or two alerts every day, reports The Verge.
"We built this feature based on an experimental account, @MagicRecs. As its bio notes "sends instant, @Magic Recs, personalized recommendations for users and content via direct message," reveals a recent post on the official blog of Twitter. "Over time, we've been tweaking the algorithms -- based on engagement and your feedback -- in order to send only the most relevant updates."
Everyday tons of information is made available and the users tend to miss out the actual or the more relevant information out of the deluge. The new personalized recommendations are a smart move from Twitter's end to offer users specific information they are looking for. In simple words, Twitter will be taking better care of the preferences of its users, another way of captivating more followers for the micro blogging site.
The users can turn on and off the feature anytime they want with "Recommendations" toggle on the notification settings. Anyhow, the recently introduced feature is not going to affect MagicRecs as Twitter will be keeping the experimental account alive for now.
