Apple slightly tweaked the policies for AppleCare+ Tuesday, extending the service coverage to more countries making it easier for Apple device users.
Apple device holders will be able to get their products serviced at any Apple store, free of cost on the first two damages. However, there is catch to the offer, the extended coverage will not be applicable in countries that don't stock the specific iPhone edition. Also, country- based service rules will be applicable if they exist, reports techcrunch.
Previously, AppleCare+ holders needed to get their Apple devices repaired from the place they purchased but the new plan allows access to services almost anywhere, a mover very beneficial to Apple users.
Though Apple has included the iPod Touch and Classic to the list of covered devices, not all devices in the Apple stable come under this coverage, reports techradar.
AppleCare+ plan was implemented in the U.S. two years ago at a nominal fee of $49 but now it has gone up to $79. The basic plan will remain the same at $99 but any replacement on an iPhone will cost around $80.58 and $29.58 for an iPod, according to the official Applecare site. The hardware buyers need to get the insurance within 30 days from the date of purchase and they also have to submit the hardware, specially iPods, for inspection.
Apple extended the AppleCare+ support to the European market including the UK, France and Italy on September 10 and the other countries that have recieved the support are Austria, Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain and Switzerland. Well the insurance will mean an extended warranty period of the two devices for the next two years at a negligible cost of £79($127) in Europe. Heavy damage on the devices may add up to some extra bucks around, £54 ($89).
