Pope Francis arrived in the U.S. Tuesday for a historic visit, and it appears that the pontiff may be the cause of the iPhone 6S delivery delay on Friday in New York.
UPS was the first to announce that consumers should not expect any delivery in several Manhattan ZIP codes, which include 10001, 10007, 10017, 10021, 10022, 10023, and 10029. There are also no pickups in said areas from Thursday, Sept. 24, to Friday, Sept. 25, specifically citing the pontiff's visit as the culprit, according to CBS New York.
The package delivery service will also be halting pickups and deliveries in several other locations such as in Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, reported TIME. Here is the detailed list:
Washington D.C. (Tuesday, Sept. 22, to Thursday, Sept. 24): 20001, 20002, 20004, 20005, 20006, 20008, 20016, 20017, 20018, 20036, 20037
Philadelphia (Friday and Saturday): 19102, 19103, 19104, 19106, 19107, 19109, 19123, 19130, 19146, 19147
Apple has also begun sending out notices to consumers who pre-ordered their iPhone 6S as early as Sept. 12. "Your iPhone 6S 64GB Rose Gold is scheduled for delivery on Friday, September 25th. However, due to traffic restrictions expected for that day in New York City, your delivery may be delayed," the company explained, The Verge reported.
Thousands of people are expected to line the streets of New York, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia to catch a glimpse of the widely-popular pontiff, who was given unprecedented arrival honors lead by President Barack Obama and his family at the Andrews Air Force Base, as HNGN previously reported.
