Tisha Campbell-Martin Reveals Childhood Rape In Emotional New Music Video

Tisha Campbell-Martin's latest music video, "Steel Here," has a powerful and emotional message as she reveals and sadly remembers being raped at a very young age.

The 47-year-old "Martin" actress and singer decided it was time to show the world how she deals with her traumatic past, according to Hollywood Life. While the video is simple, it shares an extremely strong message as Campbell-Martin lays down with mascara running down her face as someone writes a letter on her chest.

Campbell-Martin was raped when she was just three years old, and the letter being written on her body in this video is the same apology letter her attacker sent her years after the incident. "This apology has been in my heart and on my mind for decades," reads the letter on her chest. "For decades, there has been a gnawing pain within me, coupled with an unending shame for my past behavior."

She took to Twitter to explain more about the video and what had happened to her as a child. When a fan asked what the words on her chest represent, she said: "the writing on my body and the man writing the letter reps the actual words of an apology letter I recently received... low self esteem, self-deprecation or any negative emotion) being released and the freedom from it. The writing... From the person who violated me when I was 3 yrs old. By blessing me w the apology letter he allotted me the ability... to be free and to forgive." She then continued to explain how the black color of her dress "represents beauty and strength" while each dancer attached to her represents "purging of anger, grudge and pain."

It has been nearly 20 years since we've heard any music from Campbell-Martin as she's been focusing more on her acting career. She will be starring in the new TV show "Dr. Ken," according to Cosmopolitan. This moving revival of her music career is her way of reaching out to others who have survived sexual abuse.

Last year, while on "The Daily Helpline," she revealed for the first time publicly that she had been raped. "I knew as a child that I did nothing wrong and this wasn't my fault," she said at the time. "It's a heinous crime, but that's not to say that it didn't affect me."
