It's week three in fantasy football, and maybe your team is in need of some help. If you need of a good running back to fill in due to injury, or your flex position hasn't been working out then look no further. Here are three fantasy running backs available in most leagues.
1. Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones is available in most leagues, and he had a monster game last week against the St. Louis Rams. Jones is a must pickup, according to Scott Engel of the New York Post. Jones rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns last Sunday, and look for the rookie to continue to dominate. The Redskins play the New York Giants Thursday night, and although the Giants rush defense has been solid, still look for Jones to have a big game. Jones is not just a pick up for this week, as he could be a reliable back as the season goes along. Rookie running backs can come out of nowhere, and this third round pick could look to have a big season in Washington D.C.
2. New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis is a big time back that looks to have a solid season in New England. Patriot running backs can be risky, because one never knows who head coach Bill Belichick will go with from week to week. But after last week's performance, expect Lewis to get his touches. Lewis is a strong pick up in point per reception leagues because he doesn't only do it on the ground. Although he rushed for a touchdown last week, he also caught six passes for 98 yards. Look for Lewis this weekend against Jacksonville, as he is likely to pick up where he left off last week. Lewis will be owned in most leagues soon, as he out snapped LeGarrette Blount 70 to 7, according to ESPN's Field Yates.
3. Arizona Cardinals rookie running back David Johnson is another guy worth picking up, but he is getting claimed fast in most leagues. Johnson already has a touchdown in both of his first two games. The first game was one big play on a 55 yard touchdown reception, but last week, Johnson showed that he has fantasy potential with his ground game. Against the Chicago Bears, he rushed for 42 yards and scored a touchdown. While those numbers aren't page jumping, what is impressive is that he averaged 8.4 yards per carry. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians reportedly said that he expects Andre Ellington to miss the game against the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday, according to CBSSports.com. This means that Johnson will have another chance to put a touchdown on the board and prove his worth to the team. While Johnson may not be a long-term play, he is a great fit in a flex spot for a week or two.
