Andre Salaman Bautista: Daytime Emmy Winner Charged With Attempted Murder

Andre Salaman Bautista, a Daytime Emmy-winning producer, has been charged with attempted murder for stabbing his roommate, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. The 36-year-old producer pled not guilty on Tuesday to one count of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $550,000.

Bautista was accused of stabbing his roommate Clayton Haymes on Sept. 8, and the arrest warrant was filed two days later. After he ran for a couple of days, Bautista finally surrendered at the U.S. embassy in Mexico City on Sept. 17. If convicted, Bautista faces a possible maximum sentence of 13 years in state prison.

The alleged victim Haymes, a 23-year-old actor, said he was terrified for his life during the incident, reported CBS Los Angeles.

The incident allegedly started when Bautista told Haymes that he would one day win five Oscars.

"We all just kinda laughed a little bit, and he got really upset," Haymes said.

Haymes claimed that after he made the comment, Bautista chased him into a room where he swung at him with a knife before he stabbed him.

"I just saw a different person that night, and I'm just scared that I'll see that person again," Haymes said.

Bautista won a Daytime Emmy under the name Andre Bauth for producing the online soap opera "The Bay," according to Us Weekly.
