Coming off the news that the company will be unveiling a new curved display smartphone sometime in October, Samsung has also announced that it will issuing a new color option for its popular Galaxy S4 smartphone.
"Introducing the new #GalaxyS4 Gold Edition - for a style that's uniquely yours!" the company wrote on its Saudi Arabia Twitter feed. "Elegance is a touch of gold," read the tagline above a photo of a pink S4 edged in gold.
The company has announced two new gold options, Gold Brown and Gold Pink. The photos that accompanied the announcements only showed the front of the devices. This means it's unclear if the phone will have a gold backing or just gold trim around the edges.
There has been no mention of the gold color options on any of the company's other social media sites. It's possible that the gold color option is only limited to the Middle Easy at this time. The company's United Arab Emirates website, however, currently only lists a white or black option, according to PCMag.
The news of the new color options comes several days after Samsung rival Apple introduced the new version of the iPhone 5S smartphone, which also comes in a gold color option. It would make sense for Samsung to come out with a gold option in the same markets in order to compete with Apple.
The company has introduced several variations on its flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone from the S4 Active and smaller S4 Mini to the camera-heavy S4 Zoom. Each one comes with a bevy of unique color options.
There is still no official statement from the company regarding the introduction of the new gold color options. So far the tweets from its Middle Eastern accounts are the only evidence that the product even exists. However, it would make sense for this to be more than just a rumor since the source of the material seems to be from the company itself.
