Carly Fiorina was in South Carolina Thursday visiting the Carolina Pregnancy Center, advocating a pro-life message. The issue of abortions continues to be a hot political topic due to the controversy swirling around Planned Parenthood.
The Carolina Pregnancy Center gives expectant mothers advice on child care and provides Bible studies for them.
"The character of this nation cannot be about butchery of babies for body parts," Fiorina said while at the Center, according to CNN. This remark is probably a reference to the Planned Parenthood controversy. A series of videos have accused the organization of selling fetal tissues to research labs.
In the most recent Republican debate, Fiorina challenged Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama to watch one of the videos, according to The Washington Post. "Watch a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking while someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest its brain,'" she said at the debate.
None of the videos released so far actually show this, The Washington Post reports. The videos in question have been released by pro-life group Center for Medical Progress. Now, the Super PAC that supports Fiorina, CARLY for America, has put out their own video that features Fiorina's debate comments.
Planned Parenthood has asked for it to be taken down.
"This fake video doesn't show what you have claimed," executive director of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Dawn Laguens, said in a letter to Fiorina's campaign. "Simply put, the video you described at the debate does not exist, and the video you're now asking people to watch is not what you claim it is. This fraudulent video is beneath a serious candidate for the presidency, and you should take it down immediately."
Fiorina has no political experience whatsoever. She is a the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, according to The Daily Mail.
The Planned Parenthood debate is at the center of a storm of issues that could lead to a government shutdown in the very near future.
