Saudi prince arrested on sexual assault charges at the L.A. mansion he is renting has posted $300,000 bond and been released, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Majed Abdulaziz Al-Saud, 28, was arrested on Wednesday, and charged with sexual assault, false imprisonment and battery, according to CNN. LAPD were called to the gated Beverly Hills neighborhood of Beverly Glen, when a caretaker reported seeing a bleeding, screaming woman trying to climb the 8-foot wall that surrounds the compound.
LAPD arrested the prince and escorted about 20 staff out of the house, neighbor Tennyson Collins said.
The 22,000 square foot property, which has an estimated value of $37 million, has been rented by several foreign nationals over the last year. But outside of a few loud parties, this is the only unsettling incident.
"Obviously neighbors aren't happy about it, but it is what it is," Collins said of the international visitors.
The Los Angeles Police Department Consul Liaison Division, in charge of checking foreign consulates diplomatic immunity, determined the Saudi prince does not have diplomatic immunity in this situation. While some do have diplomatic immunity it all depends on their status in their home country's government and the offense they commit, said Capt. Tina Nieto, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Al-Saud's next court appearance is scheduled for October 19.
