Former "American Idol" season two contestant Corey Clark was arrested in Yuma, Ariz. Wednesday for felony aggravated harassment against his estranged wife, TMZ reported.
Clark allegedly violated his court-appointed protective order, which stated that the singer was only allowed to communicate with his wife via email and a third party, according to the Yuma County arrest report. The court order also stated that Clark should only communicate with his wife regarding concerns for their children.
Monica's police statement claimed that her estranged husband began sending emails with questions about her new relationship, which is a violation of the protective order. Monica added that she ignored Clark's emails, which led him to follow her to a restaurant and stare at her while she had dinner. Clark allegedly yelled at a male who accompanied Monica to dinner.
"You still fill my heart with so much joy whenever I get the chance to see you. I wish things were different with us. I wish things were better for us," read an email Clark sent to his wife, according to TheWrap. Monica proved the court with a number of emails showing how Clark had overstepped the boundaries.
The 35-year-old singer, who is currently in police custody at the Yuma County Detention Center, appeared in court Thursday where his bail was set at $20,000, Yuma Sun reported. At the time of his arrest, Clark was booked for aggravated harassment and failure to comply with court orders, a misdemeanor, according to TMZ.
Clark claimed in 2005 that he had an affair with American Idol judge Paula Abdul during his time on "American Idol." However, an investigation found no evidence of an affair between the contestant and the judge. Clark lost a $40 million defamation lawsuit in 2014 against MTV and Viacom.
