Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants "the twerk queen" Miley Cyrus on Team Money and escorting him to the ring for his next fight. The undefeated boxer is apparently trying to add to his stable of music stars, which already includes Lil' Wayne and Justin Bieber.
Mayweather attended the iHeart Radio Music Festival over the weekend in Las Vegas, where Cyrus performed, and met with Billboard for an interview. After already having pop star Justin Bieber walk him to the ring, Mayweather is considering adding Cyrus to his entourage.
"I was thinking about letting the twerk queen, Miley Cyrus, bring me out," Mayweather told Billboard. "Why not? We've got to call her the twerk queen; yes, we have to call her that."
Mayweather turned heads in September when Bieber escorted him to the ring for the boxer's bout against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The 36-year-old undefeated fighter shared with Billboard his love of Bieber.
"When you're the best, you only want to surround yourself with the best, and he's an exceptional artist," said Mayweather. "He's the future."
Mayweather won his fight against Alvarez by majority decision, moving to a perfect 45-0 record. He also cemented his status as one of sports' hottest commodities by shattering the record for highest-grossing pay-per-view ever. The Mayweather-Alvarez fight earned $150 million, according to ESPN, and stands to earn even more once all revenues - gate, foreign television, sponsors, closed circuit TVs and merchandise - are tallied.
"Floyd has a chance to make $100 million in this fight," Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN last week. "Floyd Mayweather been saying it over and over for years - he's the most dominant athlete in all of sports and he's getting paid accordingly."
It's uncertain when or who Mayweather will fight next.
