A German woman was thought to be dead - a victim of murder - for more than 30 years before she was found alive and well in Dusseldorf, according to Daily Mail. Petra Pazsitka went missing in 1984 and was pronounced dead five years later.
Pazsitka was 24 at the time of her alleged kidnapping when she was a college student studying computer science.
One day, when she didn't show up for her brother's birthday party along with other missed appearances, she was reported missing, spurring a massive manhunt, but no body was found.
Even stranger, a man convicted of raping and murdering a 14-year-old girl had confessed to killing Pazsitka, adding more proof to the theory that she was dead, according to Fox News.
It actually seems the woman's disappearance was of her own doing.
Though there is no motive yet as to why she disappeared, police say that the woman "continues to want no contact with the public or her family."
The woman, now 55, moved from city to city with no social security card, passport, bank account or driver's license, and was only found out after police responded to a burglary, according to the National Post.
Upon questioning, Pazsitka admitted that she was the girl that had gone missing decades ago.
