UNC Basketball Recruiting RUMORS: Brandon Robinson To Announce Decision Monday, UNC The Favorite?

North Carolina's biggest rival, Duke, has been dominating recruiting in recent years and that doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. Duke recently picked up their third commitment from the 2016 class which just added to their number one ranking. So far UNC has just one commitment, four-star power forward Tony Bradley, for 2016 but they hope to be adding to that very soon. UNC is used to being near or at the top of the rankings every year but right now they are barely top 50. Four-star shooting guard Brandon Robinson is expected to announce his college choice on Monday afternoon, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com, and North Carolina is one of his final schools.

There really is no reason to panic for Tar Heels fans at this point as they are still in on some of the top recruits left but since their biggest rivals continue to get big time commitments the fans understandably are getting antsy. Brandon Robinson is expected to announce his commitment a little before three o' clock and North Carolina is the odds on favorite to get a commitment from him, according to 247 Sports.

Robinson is from Douglasville, Georgia so Georgia also is on the list of schools he's considering along with Florida State, Georgia Tech and Louisville among others. Robinson is ranked as the 16th best shooting guard and the 61st best player overall in the 2016 class, according to ESPN. Standing at 6 foot-5 Robinson has very good size for a two-guard but only weighs 170 pounds at the moment so he will need to add some bulk.

As for his game, Robinson is a prototypical shooting guard in that he is a very good scorer and he can shoot the ball from both mid-range and long range. Robinson is also a very good athlete who should excel in transition at the college level. The criticism of his game, besides needing to get stronger, is that he isn't a great defender yet but most scouts think he has the tools to be a plus defender at the next level with his length and size.

Adding Robinson to their 2016 recruiting class wouldn't be the marquee guy UNC fans were hoping for but it would be another very good player with a lot of upside. Robinson has the tools to be a very good college player and will be a nice piece for whichever school he decides to commit to on Monday.
