USC quarterback Cody Kessler is impressing the scouting community with his play this season, according to Bucky Brooks of College Football 24/7.
Kessler and the Trojans are just coming off a big win against Pac-12 South Rival Arizona State. Kessler had a huge impact throwing for 375 yards and five touchdowns in route to beat the Sun Devils 42-14. The Trojans have one loss this season to Stanford, but even in that loss Kessler threw for 272 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Kessler was the seventh ranked quarterback in all of college football at the beginning of the season, according to WalterFootball.com. Kessler is doubted by some as a first round draft pick, but if he keeps playing this way he is likely to move up NFL draft boards.
Kessler threw for 3,826 yards with 39 touchdowns to five interceptions last season. Even with those remarkable numbers, it looks as though he is improving his statistics this season.
The Trojans still have Notre Dame, Utah, Oregon and UCLA on their schedule, but if Kessler can prove himself through those games he is likely to move up draft boards. Kessler is a stat machine, but scouts are likely worried about his 6-foot-1 stature.
The only thing in Kessler's control is his play on the field, and that will entail him continuing to put up outstanding numbers. The scouts are reportedly impressed with his play, and if he keeps it up he could see himself moving up draft boards.
