Arsenal continues its pursuit for depth at the striker spot. The latest rumored target is Ezequiel Lavezzi from Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Express. Lavezzi has become unsettled with his time at PSG and a move away from the French giants is expected in January.
Since the arrival of Angel Di Maria from Manchester United, Lavezzi's playing time has drastically plummeted, raising questions of his shelf life with the club. Rumors of Inter Milan and Valencia wanting Lavezzi emerged over the summer but neither panned out. Arsenal hopes a move can come to fruition with the 30-year old striker and are desperate for more depth.
The Gunners sit in an awkward place when deciding about Lavezzi. Arsenal has few strikers but multiple attacking midfielders, making a move for another striker almost not needed. There is only one year remaining on Lavezzi's contract and the club does not want him walking free next summer, according to Bleacher Report. A move to sell the striker makes the most sense, regardless if it does not add extensive capital to their bank account.
Lavezzi has only started two league games and came off the bench in five others, adding just one goal to his time on the field. Numbers that poor do raise questions for Lavezzi's skills and how much he holds in the tank at this point in his career.
