When Daisy, Mack and Hunter track down their first new Inhuman in the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." premiere, they can think of no one better to help the frightened man transition and embrace his extraordinary powers than fellow Inhuman, Lincoln. Unfortunately, the former transitioner has no interest in taking on that role again.
In a sneak peek clip from the season three premiere, Lincoln tells Daisy and Mack that he no longer believes having Inhuman powers is a gift as he told then Skye when she first came to Afterlife. He just wants to move on and live a normal life, working in a hospital.
"I was wrong. I was regurgitating a lie shoved down my throat. It's a curse. You of all people should know that," Lincoln says.
Even when Daisy tries to appeal to his sense of heritage, he snaps back, "Let it die." He also shuts down Mack on his way out.
"I think I've made it pretty clear. I'm not taking orders from anyone, anymore."
A new crop of Inhumans will begin surface in the new season after they're inadvertently exposed to the Terrigen mist via crystals that spilled into the ocean. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team saves Joey (Juan Pablo Raba), a new Inhuman, from a mercenary team and Daisy has the daunting task of explaining that alien blood in his system has caused him to feel like a stranger in his own body.
"There exists a small percentage of the population with a dormant alien gene mixed into their DNA. There's a chemical compound that activates this gene, giving them unnatural abilities," Daisy tells a confused Joey. "This chemical compound called Terrigen was recently released into our ecosystem and you Joey are one of the first people with this gene to come into contact with it."
As Daisy says, "Welcome to the club, Joey!"
