Apple Inc. has contributed over $65 million to its partner (PRODUCT) RED charity, which fights against AIDS around the globe.
Apple is on a high with the sales of its recently launched iPhone 5S and 5C sky-rocketing. But it is not all about profit for the company, it is aware of its social responsibilities too. Apple Inc. has been a long time partner of (PRODUCT) RED, a charity foundation aimed at fighting the deadly AIDS. The tech giant has contributed over $65 million for (PRODUCT) RED since 2006.
(PRODUCT) RED, also known as (RED), was established in 2006 and partners a bunch of renowned brands like Nike, Starbucks, Apple, American Express and Beats. These major brands have shown immense support by contributing a part of their profits to the charity. With Apple being the largest contributor, it "is certainly leading the crew." The foundation has raised $215 million in total, including Apple's generous $65 million donation, till date.
In a tweet on Thursday, (RED) thanked Apple for its generous contribution over the years.

(PRODUCT) RED sends all the raised funds directly to "the Global Fund to finance the AIDS fight on the ground in Africa," A (RED) spokesperson told TechCrunch. "This work is absolutely critical to ending AIDS."
To further support the organization, Apple offers a wide range of (RED) accessories and part of its profit goes to the foundation. Apple released several (RED) versions of iPod nano and shuffle, and touch. It also offers iPad mini Smart Cover, iPad Smart Cover, iPad Smart Case and an iPhone 4S bumper. All these products are listed on a dedicated (RED) page on Apple's own official site.
