Prior to the season, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers singled out tight end Andrew Quarless as a player who had seemingly taken a big step in his development and had put in the work in the offseason that would, hopefully, translate to production on the field. Unfortunately, thus far in 2015 Quarless hasn't made much of an impact for the injury-plagued Pack and now he's set to join teammates Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams on the sideline. Quarless is out the next four to six weeks after suffering a sprained MCL during Green Bay's Monday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
With No. 1 receiver Nelson done for the year and Adams going down early against the Chiefs and reportedly in need of some time to heal, the Packers and Rodgers are quickly running out of pass-catching options. Even the backfield is banged up as running back Eddie Lacy is also battling an ankle injury.
While Quarless had managed just two receptions for 14-yards through the first three weeks of 2015, he was viewed, as is any player afforded the chance to start alongside Rodgers, as a potential fantasy - and real life - breakout candidate each week.
Unfortunately, he wasn't able to take advantage of the opportunity afforded him and will now have to watch from the sidelines as the Packers and Rodgers chase another Super Bowl berth, led at wide receiver and tight end by James Jones, Randall Cobb, rookie Ty Montgomery and Richard Rodgers.
