Ruben Studdard, the Grammy Nominated singer and the second season winner of "American Idol" will try to slim down on the upcoming season of "The Biggest Loser."
Studdard, 35, will be a cast member in the 15th season of "The Biggest Loser" as its heaviest participant at 462 pounds, according to the Associated Press.
"When I turned 34, I realized I wasn't young anymore," Studdard said, according to NewsMax. "and that I wanted to live a long time. It was time for a change."
The singer didn't even get one last "pig-out session" that most of the contestants get before they go to the ranch for a few months to try and shed their excess weight.
"You know, the funny thing is, I was actually working the night before, so I didn't get an opportunity to have a pig-out session, no," Studdard said in a phone call to the AP. "I actually flew from a concert to the ranch. ... I'm sure I probably would have had a piece of cake or something before I went up to the ranch for months and months."
When the season is over, whatever the results of his weight loss are, Studdard is looking forward to recording his sixth album. However, he wants to make a point of giving himself a little time to him every day.
"That's what I've been taught, as you know. I have to get up every day and give myself the two hours that I need to keep myself together before I even get into any music stuff, and that's just going to have to be how I do it," he said.
Studdard will not be the only celebrity in the 2013 "Biggest Loser" class. Olympian Holley Mangold, who represented the U.S. in weightlifting during the 2012 London Games will try to get in shape for the 2016 games while on the show.
"The Biggest Loser" returns to NBC at 8 p.m. on Oct. 8. Tune in to see Studdard and the rest of the season 15 class battle their weight and try to get in good physical and mental health.
