With Frank Sinatra's 100th birthday just around the corner, a box set including the late singer's previously unreleased radio performances will be released as part of a special box set through Sony Music's Legacy Recordings.
"Frank Sinatra: A Voice On Air (1935 - 1955)," a 4-CD collection will be made available on Nov. 20, in honor of Sinatra's centennial birthday on Dec. 12, Sony announced on Tuesday, according to New York Daily News.
The box set will feature more than 100 rare Sinatra songs, 91 of which are previously unreleased radio performances from the "Golden Age" of radio.
The collection will be the first official compilation of the "Strangers in the Night" singer's radio performances, including his first ever radio performance singing "S-H-I-N-E" with the Hoboken Four back in 1935. The box set will also contain the last episode of "The Frank Sinatra Show," which took place in 1955, according to Rolling Stone.
The broadcasts' openings, closings, announcements as well as the commercials have all been preserved in the compilation, which comes packaged with a 60-page book featuring a personal remembrance by Frank's eldest daughter, Nancy Sinatra, and a detailed essay by foremost Sinatra historian, author and box set producer Charles L. Granata, according to PR Newswire.
The set also includes many of Sinatra's radio tracks like Cole Porter's "Don't Fence Me In," Frank Loesser's "I Wish I Didn't Love You So," Jerome Kern and Ira Gershwin's "Long Ago and Far Away," Johnny Burke and Jimmy Van Heusen's "Aren't You Glad You're You" and Richard Whiting, Leo Robin and Newell Chase's "My Ideal." There are also duets with Nat King Cole, Benny Goodman, Doris Day and Peggy Lee.
