China Parcel Bombs: Parcel Bombs Kill Seven People In China

On the eve of China's National Day, a horrific act has struck the country and its citizens hard. At least 17 explosions from parcels have occurred within moments of each other, carefully timed. The bombs have killed at least seven people and leaving more than 50 injured from the blasts, and two people are currently missing.

The bombs were apparently concealed within express delivery parcels.

There haven't been any official statements or reports on the cause of the explosions. The first detonation was south of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in Liucheng, but later the explosions made their way to the capital, Liuzhou where five people instantly died, according to South China Morning Post.

Government buildings, a prison, malls, bus station, and a supermarket were all targeted, according to MSN. The power of the bombs are not to be underestimated, they have left buildings in shambles and half collapsing. In the small city of Dapu, more than 12 explosions went off in just over two hours.

"I was sitting in my shop when I heard a sudden loud bang. I was in shock ... My hair was flying in the air from the shock waves," Li Acheng explained as his recollection of the events.

"We were all very shocked and thought it might be an act of terrorism. All shops were closed and the town is under curfew with police guarding every street ... It was very scary with so many attacks in just over an hour," he continued.

The government doesn't believe that the attacks were terrorist-based.

Wei, a 33-year-old man from Dapu is currently being detained as a suspect in the bombings, reported BBC.
