The first expansion pack for the latest edition of Batman series, Batman: Arkham Origins was revealed Sunday, by Warner Brothers. The expansion pack includes seasonal passes, additional skins, new background settings and a permadeath difficulty mode.
The expansion pack come with an Initiation add-on that allows the player to lead the life of Bruce Wayne, American billionaire, before he gets into the shoes of Batman to take revenge against his parent's death. Wayne's character gets to prove himself as a worthy student to his teacher Kirigi who also trained Ra's al Ghul's League of Assassins- an enemy of Batman in DC universe.
However, the character should not be related to League of Assassins anyhow, reveals Guillaume Voghel , the producer of the Batman : Arkham Origins in an exclusive interview to Eurogamer. "[But] it's not League of Assassins, it's ninja-related," said Voghel over a statement. "It's when he learned to be a ninja and learned those techniques. He goes to a monastery - custom content was created for the DLC."
The chapter of getting trained to be a ninja is set in a new background as the ninja trains in a monastery, built in an Asian backdrop. This is the first time that the game has moved out of its usual Gotham environment and incorporated an Asian setting to add on to the adventurous nature of the game.
The DLC also offers a new mission level or rather a permadeath difficulty mode," I am the Knight", once the player finishes off the main game and the New Game Plus. The new game level provides only one life for the Batman and the player enters into a marathon race of completing all the side missions in 12 hours to collect all the additional collectibles (goodies and weapons) . "The main narrative arc and side missions last about 12 hours," Voghel said, "and then you have all the collectibles. To get 100 per cent of that will take much, much longer added Voghel to the conversation. "We have a new difficulty level, New Game Plus is coming pack - that's really difficult - and when you're done with that there's I Am The Night mode - which is no saves and one life."
Additionally the game developer, Warner Brothers plans to offer the game at a comparatively cheaper rate to Wii U and PC owners compared to Xbox 360 and PS 3 players. Batman :Arkham Origins retails at $50 for Wii U users while the Xbox 360 and PS3 owners have to pay ($10) extra for the game, reports Gamespot. Also the Wii U users can avail the seasonal passes for a few extra bucks ($20) and get all the downloadable content free of cost upon release.
