San Francisco 49ers running back Reggie Bush will return to the football field this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, according to 49ers.com.
Bush's first outing with the 49ers ending quickly after leaving the game with a left calf injury in the first quarter. Bush missed the next two games and didn't travel with the team to Pittsburgh and Arizona. After a big win against the Vikings in week one, the 49ers have lost two straight games and have given up 90 points in the process.
The ground game will have to be better if San Francisco wants to have a chance against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Time of possession will be a major factor in this game, and the tandem of Bush and Carlos Hyde will likely look to carry the load.
"You never feel 100 percent," said Bush, via The Sacramento Bee. "There's always little injuries here and there. But if I'm there, then I'm playing. I'm giving 110 percent effort." Bush has only made it through a full 16-game season twice in his 10-year career.
While the 49ers will get Bush back this week, it looks as though Vernon Davis won't play due to a knee injury, according to Matt Maiocco of csnbayarea.com. Davis has 109 receiving yards through the first three games but has not reached the endzone yet this season.
San Francisco has many issues they need to fix both on defense and offense. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick threw four interceptions last week and will have to play much better against Green Bay if they want to win. Former Super Bowl champion Steve Young said that Kaepernick needs to be on the attack this Sunday against the Packers, according to the San Jose Mercury News. "I don't think you can duck it," said Young. "You've got to go right back into it and work through it."
The 49ers will likely be happy to get Reggie Bush back on the field this weekend, but if they lose their third straight game, his return will likely seem like a small after thought.
