The Afghanistan hospital bombed during Saturday's U.S. air strikes has caused Doctors Without Borders, also known as Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF), to close hospital operations and leave the city, according to Ahram. The charity is also demanding an independent investigation into the bombing,
"The MSF hospital is not functional anymore. All critical patients have been referred to other health facilities and no MSF staff are working in our hospital," Kate Stegeman, a spokeswoman for MSF.
The international medical-aid organization said 12 staff members and 10 patients were killed in the assault early Saturday, according to The Wall Street Journal, MSF has blamed the U.S. military for the strikes, calling them war crimes.
Pentagon officials have already said there are three ongoing investigations into the airstrike, according to the Los Angeles Times: one by the Defense Department, one involving both the U.S. and Afghanistan and one by NATO. MSF is insisting they will be satisfied with just one investigation by an independent source.
MSF has condemned Saturday's bombing on its hospital, as previously reported by HNGN, and states the attack was a grave violation of International Humanitarian Law.
