Newcastle raised eye brows with its lack of signings over the summer. The club has two wins, one draw and two losses for seven points, placing them 16th in the Premier League standings. Despite the lack of signings, Everton boss Roberto Martinez thinks the Newcastle club made the right decisions, NBC Sports reports.

"They made their business early with the loan of Remy and after that they didn't sign anyone," Martinez said, via NBC Sports. "It seemed from the outside that they didn't do good business, but the reality is the squad has been strong since January. They made a lot of good signings and that group if players are settled.

"I see a really good balance between experience and organization, but then a real threat with the likes of Remy, (Papiss) Cisse, (Hatem) Ben Arfa, (Yohan) Cabaye. You're talking about top, top footballers who are in a good moment in their careers and full internationals. You take away the Manchester City game and they've been performing at a very, very good level, so it would be foolish for anyone to underestimate the potential of this Newcastle side."

Everton, meanwhile, sits with nine points in eighth place in the Premier League and remains the only unbeaten team. With two wins and three draws, the Martinez era for Everton has started off well.

Gareth Barry is also expected to play in his 500th Premier League game, a landmark reached by only 10 others.

Monday's home field advantage favors Everton. In 21 trips to Merseyside, Newcastle has won only once. The two clubs all-time record against each other is less one-sided: in 164 meetings, Everton has won 65 times and Newcastle 64 times.
