A Porsche crash at a car show in Malta left at least 26 people injured on Monday, according to the Times of Malta. Five of those injured are in critical condition. Among the injured is a six-year-old girl who is currently in critical condition. The driver, Paul Bailey, is also receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, though not for any major injuries.
British millionaire Bailey was allegedly driving the Porsche 918 Spyder when he lost control of the vehicle, driving into the crowd, according to the Guardian.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the car was driving at alarmingly fast speeds along an unused airport taxiway before one of the wheels got caught on the grass and spun out of the driver's control.
The crash occurred at around 2 p.m. at an airport in Hal Farrug, according to the Times of Malta. Rescue teams were reportedly on the scene within minutes, ambulances and helicopters bringing those injured to either Mater Del Hospital or Paola Health Centre.
After the crash, the rest of the event, an annual fundraiser put together by the government to help the less fortunate, was cancelled, according to Fox News.
