A man has been arrested by authorities for his involvement in a drive-by shooting on a metro Phoenix freeway, an incident which is allegedly not connected to the sniper shootings dating back from August to September.
Investigators report that 36-year-old Christopher Hoffman shot at another vehicle Saturday on the Loop 101 freeway in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria. The shooting was classified by authorities as a road rage incident, according to Fox News.
During the incident, the other vehicle's driver side window and a rear passenger window were shattered, but the other driver was unharmed and exited the freeway.
Using tips from the public, as well as witness testimony, Hoffman was tracked down and arrested, reported ABC News. Hoffman later admitted to the shooting, and The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported that evidence linked him to the crime scene.
Following his arrest and later admission of guilt, Hoffman was charged with committing a drive-by shooting, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm within city limits and possession of a dangerous drug, according to the Associated Press.
Phoenix residents have been rattled by a series of random vehicle shootings on Interstate 10 between Aug. 22 and Sept. 10 involving bullets or projectiles.
One suspect was formally charged for four of the 11 shootings as the investigation continues.
