Sony launched its flagship product Honami, Z1 a month back at the IFA and the company is reportedly working on a successor to Honami slated for a 2013 end release.
The Japanese multinational conglomerate is rumored to be developing a mini edition of Honami, also called Xperia Z1 Mini. A recent brochure from the Japanese carrier NTT Docomo allegedly carried pictures of Z1 Mini with features similar to its previous version. However, the existence of Z1, carrying the model number (SO-01F) Mini still awaits official confirmation.
The mini version is expected to come with slight tweaks to the display and the size and it will be powered by a much smaller battery of about 2400mAh. The Sony Honami mini will feature a 4.3-inches Triluminous display with a resolution output of 720X1280 pixels. The Z1 Mini packs a lesser body diameter; measuring 127 x 64.9 x 9.4mm compared to Z1 and comes with a water resistant tag carrying IP55/IP58 certification, according to a recent post on Xperiablog.
In terms of hardware, the device will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor accompanied by 2GB of RAM. Honami is the first device by Sony to have a 20MP camera and the Mini version is likely to feature camera specs such as Sony G lens, f/2.0 aperture and a 1/2.3″ sensor integrated to the 20MP camera.
The device is also expected to carry an internal memory of 16GB and might also come with an expandable memory slot, reports Fonearena. The Z1 Mini will be running on Android 4.2 and will be available in varied color options- pink, yellow, black and white.
Though there have been no words on when the Mini device will be rolled out globally, it is believed the device will be launched in Japan followed by a global release, reports Engadgets.
