"The Simpsons" producers made a major announcement for season 25 recently. According to The Sun Times, Executive Producer Al Jean confirmed that a "major" character will be killed off in the new season.
"I'll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won't say who it is," Jean said.
That clue does little to offer any insight to which beloved character will be exiting Springfield for good because the show has 25 Emmy awards under its belt with virtually all the major characters bringing one home.
Jean did open up about other little secrets for the new season. The season finale is said to be a Simpson/Futurama "cross-over episode" and will have celebrity's voices including Zach Galifianakis, Elisabeth Moss and Kristen Wiig, who was in the season premiere.
"In that (Elisabeth Moss) episode, Homer is stuck in an elevator with a pregnant woman and delivers her baby," Jean said. "She's grateful and she doesn't have a husband, so she names the baby Homer Jr. and Homer actually bonds with the baby better than his own (children)."
It was also revealed that Guillermo del Toro is contributing to the Treehouse of Terror episode, which will air Oct. 6 and the Comic Book Guy will be getting married.
The new season kicked off on Sunday (Sept. 29) with "Homeland" a spoof of Showtime's hit show "Homeland." In the episode Lisa believes that Homer has been "turned" by terrorists because he has access to nuclear secrets at the Springfield plant.
Jean didn't reveal when the fan-favorite character will die or what happens. Which character do you think will be killed off?
