Chelsea needs to win on Tuesday after dropping its opening Champions League match against FC Basel, 2-1. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has already called Tuesday's match a must-win, Sky Sports reports.
"We have to get 12 points to be out of any danger, so if we lose we still have four matches to play and we will have to win them all," Mourinho said, via Sky Sports. "We don't want to put ourselves under so much pressure."
Mourinho conceded his team's performance against FC Basel didn't warrant a win and hopes his team gives a better showing against Steaua Bucuresti.
"We did not play well (against Basel) and lost, but we didn't deserve to lose," said Mourinho, via IB Times. "However, we didn't deserve to win as we did not play well. Steaua Bucuresti have showed that they can play at a high level and will be competitive in this group. They will fight for points and try to qualify for the next round.
"They are champions of their country, they have qualified for the Champions League group stage and are more experienced and motivated. For Chelsea, it's the same players but with a different manager. A new manager has to start things off again and normally it takes three months before the team is in top condition."
Chelsea will have to win without Eden Hazard, who's unavailable with an ankle injury.
Steaua Bucuresti is also coming off a loss in its first Champions League game of the season. The club fell to Schalke, 3-0. Steaua Bucuresti had success against Chelsea in last year's Europa League, dealing the Blues a 1-0 loss.
