Spencer Stone, one of the three Americans who received the French Legion of Honor for his involvement in stopping a terror attack on a French train in August, was stabbed in Sacramento, Calif. Wednesday evening, the U.S. Air Force reported early Thursday.
"A1C Spencer Stone has been transported to a local hospital, and is currently being treated for injury," an Air Force spokesman said, according to FOX News. "The incident is currently under investigation by local law enforcement."
Police reports indicate that Stone was stabbed multiple times in the torso after an altercation outside a popular bar in downtown Sacramento, but they noted that there is no information about the events leading up to the incident.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene following the attack, reported NBC's California affiliate KCRA. A man and woman were questioned about the attack, but it's still unclear if the two were detained or taken into custody.
Alek Skarlatos, one of the other two Americans who stopped the attack, took to Twitter to voice his support for Stone and his family.
No suspect description has been released.
While the area reopened around 6 a.m., the investigation is ongoing.
