Aaron Hernandez Murder Update: Witness Identifies Ex-NFL Star As Shooter In 2012 Double Homicide

More trouble for Aaron Hernandez. A man who survived a 2012 shooting in Boston that left two people dead identified the ex-NFL star as the shooter, Fox News reports.

Police have been investigating whether Hernandez, 23, was involved in an unsolved 2012 double homicide. The drive-by shooting happened in July and left two men dead in their vehicle. A third man in the vehicle, now a witness, said the shooting happened around 2 a.m. after they left a Boston nightclub. An SUV pulled alongside their vehicle while stopped at a red light. A voice then yelled, "What's up, Negroes?" and the shooting began.

The witness, who asked to remain unidentified for safety, now claims Hernandez was the shooter.

"Things happened so fast. I was trying to defend myself," the witness said in an interview with WFXT television, according to Fox News. "They were shooting everywhere inside the car front to back. They just came to kill. That's it.

"... When I see (Hernandez's) face, I just recognize the face. Compare his face that night to his face now. It's that face that I remember."

The witness's positive identification of Hernandez adds to the mounting evidence implicating the former Patriot in the shooting. Surveillance footage appears to show Hernandez in the same area of the nightclub the two victims were at on the night of the shooting, according to MyFoxBoston.com.

In June, police discovered the weapon used in the 2012 murders in the trunk of a car driven by Jailene Diaz Ramos, a woman from Hernandez's hometown of Bristol, Conn. Police also found the SUV wanted in connection with the 2012 murders in a Bristol home frequented by Hernandez, who's name the vehicle was rented in.

Hernandez is also linked to a third shooting. Alexander Bradley, a former friend of Hernandez, is suing Hernandez for shooting him in the face last February. Bradley was subpoenaed to testify before a Suffolk grand jury but failed to appear. A warrant is out for his arrest.

A grand jury indicted Hernandez in September on multiple charges, including first degree murder, in the death of Odin Lloyd. Hernandez pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to appear again in court in October.
