Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery could miss his fourth consecutive game this weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to Rich Campbell of The Chicago Tribune.
Jeffery hasn't played since week one due to a hamstring injury. He has only fully participated in practice twice since the season began. "I'm just taking it one day at a time," said Jeffery. "It's a process. As a player, I want to be out there, too. But it's a process. It's a long season."
The Bears earned their first win this past Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, as quarterback Jay Cutler returned from his own hamstring injury. While the Bears pulled out a win, injuries are decimating their team. Starting center Will Montgomery broke his fibula against the Raiders, and the offensive line has been dealing with injuries this whole season.
"It does get challenging," said Cutler, via Chicago Sun-Times. "Even with this week a bunch of new guys - we have some guys banged up, so getting through practice, just getting everyone on the same page (the) communication's got to be good."
The Bears will have to have the next man up mentality this weekend against the Chiefs, but unfortunately for them, receiver Eddie Royal missed his second practice this week due to an ankle injury. Royal has 120 receiving yard with a touchdown this season, and if both he and Jeffery can't go this weekend, the Bears will need other receivers like Marquess Wilson to step up. Both the Bears and Chiefs are 1-3 this season, and that will likely make this a turning point game for either team.
